    A beautiful winter morning, looking out over the boats in Cowichan Bay. BC. The morning was unusually cold, and the fresh water flowing in from the Cowichan River had frozen on top of the ocean water in the bay.

    I loved the sunlight and reflections of the boats tied together on an early New Years morning, waiting for the brave swimmers to come out for their polar bear swim.

    I was inspired by the beautiful sunset colours that flowed over Botanical Beach at Port Renfrew on Vancouver Island. There seemed a sense of calmness in the beach strollers.

    Several pictures I took of boats tied up at a dock on a very misty evening inspired this painting. The mist was so heavy it obscured the background.
